Lesson For Single Mothers From BET's New Show Zoe Ever After

January 6, 2016 Violette W.

How many of you caught Brandy's return to TV last night? After about 20 years or so, when Moesha was last on air Brandy headlined her new show, Zoe Ever After on BET. For those that missed it, the show is about a single parent who's juggling not only parenthood and co-parenting with her ex-husband but also launching her new cosmetics line.

Brandy describes the show as Moesha all grown up, so if you liked Moesha back in the day, this might be right up your alley as well. Brandy is also able to relate to her character in that she too is a single parent and co-parents with her daughter's dad, musician Robert Anthony Smith. And something I didn't know, Brandy also aspired to go into the cosmetics industry The Guardian reports. The similarities between her character and herself aren't too surprising after learning that she helped create the show and its title character. That and what Brandy says you can expect from the show is revealed in the video link below. (click on image)

What Brandy shows, not only through her character but through her life, is that being a single parent doesn't mean you can't pursue your dreams. Granted, not many ladies have a famous boxer as their ex as Zoe does, or a celebrity in their own right, to not have to worry about any financial implications. However I'm a firm believer that where there's a will, there's a way.

If you happen to be a makeup enthusiast, did you know that Michelle Phan became Lancôme's first Vietnamese spokesperson in 2010? In 2011, she co-founded Ipsy, a subscription makeup service, which is also the sponsor for Generation Beauty, a conference she helped organize. And finally, in 2013 she launched her cosmetic line called 'em by Michelle Phan' under L'Oreal. Who's Michelle Phan you ask? And how did she get that initial opportunity with Lancôme? By doing YouTube videos. Yup! Consistent makeup tutorials caught the attention of the bigwigs, so when I say anything's possible, ANYTHING is possible. Hustle with intention and watch God open doors that no man can close (Rev 3:8).

Speaking of hustle, shortly after the premier episode of Zoe Ever After last night, Brandy released her brand new single. Chek it out below and let me know what you think in the comments below.

Be blessed!
